PRIVACY POLICY

Eastern Oregon University Bookstore has established this policy and is providing it to you so that you can understand the manner in which we use your information and the efforts we use to protect it.  We at EOU Bookstore are committed to protecting your online privacy.

Personal Information

We recognize the need for customers to control the use and management of personal information.  By personal information, we mean the information that can be used to identify or contact an individual.  This includes a first and last name, a physical address, an email address, a phone number or a social security number.  If you choose to provide us with personal information, we may transfer this information within the Bookstore or the University.  We will only transfer the information to the extent necessary to provide the requested products to you.  We do not sell or trade your personal information to unrelated third parties and we do not utilize email marketing.

Automatic Information

Please note we use a third party software provider that collects information about types and versions of internet browsers used when accessing our website.  This information and information about Internet IP addresses' as well as the date and time web pages are visited are store in various security and traffic logs.  These logs are reviewed to track and predict patterns and resources needed. 

Children

EOU Bookstore serves the college bookstore industry and as such is not meant to attract children.  We do not intend to collect personal information from anyone we know to be under 13 year of age.

Security and Confidentiality

EOU Bookstore takes reasonable steps to ensure that your Personal Information is protected.  We use industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption when collecting and transferring your data.  Within the EOU Bookstore, we make use of multiple levels of redundant firewalls and we use database encryption.  Internally, we limit access to Personal Information to those employees or agents who we believe have reasonable need to use the information to provide the products you request, or to perform their jobs.

Third Parties

We partner with third parties to provide various products.  When a user signs up for these products, we may share Personal Information that is necessary for the third party to provide the product to you.  We will take reasonable steps to only provide Personal Information to third parties when necessary and to ensure that these third parties are obligated to protect Personal Information on our behalf.  It is against EOU Bookstore's policy to sell or trade Personal Information collected online, without consumer consent.  Note that, unless legally required to do otherwise, EOU Bookstore does not intend to transfer Personal Information to third parties that are not bound to act in our behalf.  If legally compelled to release Personal Information to a third party, EOU Bookstore may or may not notify customer of such release.  Notification will be at the discretion of EOU Bookstore and will be based on the nature and conditions surrounding the release of Personal Information.

Notifications

Consumer notifications may be performed by EOU Bookstore, or by our partners.  When EOU Bookstore performs a notification, it will be sent to the email address associated with your account.  EOU Bookstore will send an email but we cannot guarantee delivery.  You are responsible for providing a valid email address and for updating it as your address changes.  EOU Bookstore may, depending on the importance and urgency of the notification, choose to contact you via telephone or postal mail.  When doing so, we will use the phone number and/or address associated with your account.

Modifications

Periodically EOU Bookstore will make changes to this privacy policy.  The History section, below, summarizes those changes and includes the current policy effective date.  EOU Bookstore does not make any effort to notify consumers of privacy policy changes.  You may view the current policy by returning to this page.

History

EOU Bookstore first established a privacy policy July 2004.

Consent

By using EOU Bookstore's website, you consent to the terms of our Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree to the terms of this policy, please stop using EOU Bookstore's website immediately.
